New patients will be requested to complete a medical history form during their initial visit.

For your convenience and to expedite the medical examination process, we kindly ask new patients to download and print the appropriate medical history form. Once downloaded, please fill out the form and bring it with you on your first visit to help minimize waiting times.

A comprehensive general health examination is conducted.

During the initial medical examination for new patients, we allocate ample time to perform a thorough general physical health examination. You may wonder why a physical examination is conducted for a mental disorder. The implementation of this physical health examination is based on the recommendations of the Psychiatry Laboratory of the Japan Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. Similarly, psychiatric laboratories in other countries, such as the United States of America, also emphasize the importance of conducting a physical health examination prior to initiating medication for mental disorders. Ensuring a sufficient physical health examination is crucial because mental disorder treatments often involve the use of medication. Additionally, hormonal imbalances or other physical ailments can potentially contribute to the development of mental disorders. Therefore, it is essential to rule out any underlying physical conditions before commencing treatment.

Mental disorders require long-term treatment.

It is not uncommon for patients to discontinue treatment on their own when they perceive an improvement in their mental disorder symptoms after taking medication. However, it is important to understand that mental disorder treatment requires a significant time commitment, and prematurely discontinuing medication can lead to a relapse of symptoms. Therefore, we strongly advise patients to engage in open discussions with their physician and refrain from making independent decisions regarding changes in their medication.
